Early Bird Late Bird

Early Bird
Early Bird is a voluntary extension of the school day available to all students beginning at 7:00 AM until the start of school. Early Bird provides a place for students to complete homework and quietly socialize with friends in a structured, supervised environment. Students are required to follow all school disciplinary rules during this time. Students are not allowed to leave the designated area before the start of the student’s scheduled classes. There is no fee for Early Bird.

Free Bird
Free Bird is a voluntary, free of charge extension of the school for fifth (5th) and sixth (6th) grade student with a sibling. Students signed into Free Bird will not be charged a fee while waiting for their sibling to be dismissed at the end of the day. Students signed into Free Bird will be provided a quiet study hall environment to complete homework in a structured, supervised environment.

Late Bird
Late Bird is a voluntary, fee-based extension of the school day for all lower school students. Students signed into Late Bird will be provided a quiet study hall environment to complete homework in a structured, supervised environment for the first hours of Late Bird. After that, they can continue to work or will have inside and outside options to play.

Free Bird Schedule
Free Bird is offered each school day, Monday through Friday, from the time of 5th and 6th grade dismissal at 2:45 PM to all school dismissal at 3:40 PM. Students signed into Free Bird must be signed out by their 7th grade sibling to be picked up by their parents or leave campus for the remainder of the day. Students who are signed into Free Bird and have not been signed out by their 7th grade sibling ten (10) minutes after all school dismissal at 3:40 PM, will be signed into Late Bird and charged the drop-in fee, unless they have prepaid. Parents may also sign their student out of Free Bird if the 7th grade sibling is unavailable or absent that day at all school dismissal time.

Late Bird Schedule
Late Bird is offered each school day, Monday through Friday, from the time of dismissal to 5:30 PM, including early release days, unless otherwise noted. LATE BIRD IS NOT OFFERED ON THE FIRST OR LAST DAY OF SCHOOL. Students are not permitted to leave campus and return to Late Bird under any circumstances.

Sign In/Sign Out
All students attending Late Bird are required to sign in using the Sign In/Out Book. It is imperative that all students sign in so in the event of an emergency the Late Bird Supervisor can account for all attending students. The Late Bird supervisor will only release students after they have been signed out by a parent or responsible party listed on the Late Bird Registration Form. These dismissal measures are extremely important for the safety of your children.

At the time of pick-up, the parent should park and enter through the side gate and continue to the lower school MPR to sign his/her student out.

Who must pay for Late Bird?
Fifteen (15) minutes after dismissal time, if a student has not been picked up, they will be sent to Late Bird. If the student has not prepaid for Late Bird, they will be considered a “drop-in”. The parents of “drop-in” students must park in the school parking lot and walk to the Late Bird entrance to sign their child out of Late Bird. A parent’s signature constitutes their agreement to pay the Late Bird fee for that day. Our dismissal measures and protocols are extremely important for the safety of your children.

Student hours
Students are permitted to sign in to Late Bird while waiting to attend student hours free of charge. If students do not attend and sign into student hours they will be charged a drop-in fee, unless they have pre-paid. Likewise if a student whose parent has not prepaid returns to Late Bird after attending student hours, they will be charged a drop-in fee. Any student who has left student hours early or was dismissed from student hours as a disciplinary method and are not picked up by their parent within fifteen (15) minutes, will be sent to Late Bird to sign in and will be charged a drop-in fee, unless they have prepaid.

Extracurricular
Students are permitted to sign in to Late Bird, in a designated extracurricular activity folder, while waiting to attend an extracurricular activity free of charge. If students return to Late Bird after attending an extracurricular activity they will be charged a drop in fee, unless they have pre-paid.

Rules
Students are required to follow all school disciplinary rules during Early Bird and Late Bird. The School reserves the right to exclude students from Early Bird or Late Bird for disruptive behavior or any other breach of school rules.

Students are not permitted to leave campus and return to Late Bird. This includes trips to the QuikTrip “QT”.

Students enrolled in Late Bird are encouraged to bring a snack and a drink, keeping in mind that there is no refrigerator or microwave available.
